Good idea! Seriously, a petition needs to be sent to Moore urging him to get rid of Boxey altoghether, that is if the show returns. I reckon Moore is regretting writing Boxey into the story line just as he bemoans the fact that he used technobabble in the scene which had Lee Adama setting off an electromagnetic pulse to fool the cylons.

The further the show moves away from any cliched sci fi trappings the better. No Wesley Crushers or Sea Quest brats for this show thank you very much mr. Moore.

No, we shouldn't send a petition to RDM asking him to write out/kill off Boxey.
We should send him a petition saying the following:
Dear Mr. Moore:
Please either DO something worthwhile (not at all reminiscent of Wesley Crusher or TOS Boxey) with your character of Boxey, or else write him out of the story. Whether you write him out quietly or with a particularly painful death, we don't care much one way or the other. But we already have so many wonderful and amazing characters that you have no screen time to waste on an annoying bowl-cut moppet who is even more boring without a chimp-in-a-suit robot dog. We'd prefer that he get a worthwhile job in the plot arc of the series, but if no such role of importance is forthcoming (we can't think of any, but that's why we're not BSG writing staff), then please either kill him off or quietly send him off to boarding school never to be heard from again.
We thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Signed, Several thousand rabid Galactica fans
P.S. -- If William Adama is revealed to actually be a Cylon, we will hunt you down and bludgeon you to death with TOS DVD boxed sets.

It's about time that kid earned his keep, it's got to be toilet duty for the brat!

I think Moore should write the brat out of the show asap. Galactica is clearly not directed towards younger viewers so that demographic should not be represented on this show. This ain't Star Trek or Sea Quest, Adama doesn't need a boy genius to help him find earth when he has enough trouble with a grown up genius who acts schizophrenic half the time. Maybe the crew suspects Boxey is a cylon and chuck him out an airlock into space with explosives attached but later discover they mad a mistake!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) I agree. Space the little frak!

I think that he was in the mini as just a nod to TOS, although he was in one episode for about two seconds I suspect he will be forgotten in the next season.

The writers missed a spot to kill him off in the mini-series...
ROSLIN: Is there something you wanted to say to me?
BILLY: Well, I-I just thought you should know. That little boy you met earlier, Boxey. His ship can't make the jump.
ROSLIN: Thank you.

The writers missed a spot to kill him off in the mini-series... Dammit! The fools! But I'm sure they can work that into another episode somehow...maybe Boxey could be taken hostage by Tom Zarek or something. Then we can get the classic line 'go on, shoot the little frakker, see if I care.' The big question is who should have the pleasure of delivering it? ;D

But your suggestion, Ladyrheena, definitely tops it. VPM

I believe Moore has something particular in store for Boxey. And I don't believe he kept Boxey in the new BSG universe just to appease the fans of TOS. That doesn't float in the face of his gender and race changes, which annoyed TOS fans much more than anything he could have done with Boxey. Besides, most TOS fans hate Boxey. And Moore has shown repeatedly that he doesn't give a damn what TOSers want. So no, it's not an appeasement to TOSers.
Boxey has a purpose, and we will see just what purpose when Moore is ready to reveal it. Think about it. There is no other explanation.
What surprises me is that you folks hate the new Boxey so much. He's really been quite unobtrusive in the series so far, and he's not annoyingly cute or precocious. Moore has made it clear that this is not a show for kids, so there's no danger in Boxey becoming the type of TV brat we all despise.
He might be a cylon, he might not. But, he's definitely there for a reason. Besides, the budget doesn't permit superfluous characters.

I love all kids in general...I just couldn't eat a whole one. ;D

I think the actor who plays Boxey, grew out of the part. Less than two full months past since Ragnar till the end of season one. Boxey was a small kid in the mini... now in ep3 he is as tall as Kara Thrace. A least a foot smaller in the mini. almost the same ht as Kara in "Bastile Day" OS

[glow=red,2,300] So Say We All![/glow] But seriously, i hope the kid playing Boxey isn't taking all this personally, because it's not his acting capabilities--it's the role he got. It's like landing a part in a Western but having to play the guy in the black hat. I think the actor who plays Boxey, grew out of the part. Less than two full months past since Ragnar till the end of season one. Boxey was a small kid in the mini... now in ep3 he is as tall as Kara Thrace. He is the All-Powerful Boxey, remember? He's living around mostly adults now, so he decided to put on a few inches! You think he can't do it?! The Colonies themselves were but the cinders of the sparks which he ignited from his fingertips, and we are but silly little bits of protoplasm who cower in his presence! Aum.
