Ok offcourse unrealistic me wants 50, 365 episode seasons ..... covering me for the rest of my lifetime.
Realistic me figures 4 - 5 seasons.
I hope they will have slightly more episodes ... I think 15 - 18 episodes would be nice. I also hope they would kick off every season with a miniseries on top of those episodes. The miniseries being an excuse to splash a bit of money around on special effects.

A new BSG movie would be GREAT at any stage. Can you imagine the fight scenes on the big screen? Yes it would be quite amazing, howver I would like them to keep a "season" down to 13 episodes max. Any more and I think the quality will suffer. Quality of this kind needs to be nurtured. In my own opinion, it could go to 3-5 seasons. Perhaps culminating in a movie or another 4 hour mini on the discovery of Earth.

The producers and stars I'm sure have big back end financial interests in successful syndication. It takes too long to get to the magic 100 number for syndication if they do less than 20 a year.

I would go for a 4 hour mini on them discovering Earth , I think20 episodes is pretty good but like I said it's up to the actors like EJO if they want to do a 20 episdoe season . WHA

A new BSG movie would be GREAT at any stage. Can you imagine the fight scenes on the big screen? I see BSG on a big screen almost every night. Get yourself a projector. I have a 2 meter wide 16:9 screen (diagonally 229 cm or 90"), and you could easily go much bigger. If you want recommendations, send me a personal message. I would gladly pay Sci-Fi or SkyOne to download episodes with 480 or 576 lines of resolution. I would buy from them even if pirated copies were available elsewhere. I think this is the TV business model of the future. Syndication is about to be irrelevant. Broadcast TV is about to be irrelevant. But I guess for this year their business model will be to just release DVD's. Damn, then they will hit us again in a couple of years with 720 line HD-DVD's, and we'll want to buy the boxed sets for season one and two all over again. The greedy bastards! I think they should do just 4 seasons of 13-16 episodes. Let it end in its prime. Then give Ron Moore a blank check and free reign to do whatever he wants... hopefully a new science fiction series that reinvents the genre in a new way yet again. If the series runs longer and EJO retires, then Apollo could take command, receiving any necessary promotions before that. I didn't like the Apollo character at first, but he is growing and developing and I could see him deepening into a true commander. It's just too bad that they won't be able to kill off Adama without there being spoilers about it posted first all over the net, not to mention in newspapers. It would come as quite a shock if there were no warning.

It takes too long to get to the magic 100 number for syndication if they do less than 20 a year. I don't think that's true. AFAIK, The Shield (which I think is the closest parallell for BSG on T.V. is still doing 13 episode seasons. I'm guessing we'll see another 13 episoder for season 2 and beyond. My hope is that the series reaches the magic 100, makes a concluding miniseries and goes out at the top of its game. Regardless, I'm going to buy the whole series on DVD anyway, so I'll have it for the rest of my life.
