Damn it, can't read any threads anymore without someone adding a comment that goes something like this:
"Well, character X is obviously a Cylon, after all, didn't you see all those screenshots from episode 12?"
If you have spoiled yourself, fine, it's your choice. But don't go around and post your spoilers in threads that are not marked as spoiler threads!
And don't you even frakking *TRY* to whine about how you mentioned the word "spoiler" in your post. Not everyone has to move their lips while they read, you know.

Have to agree with this, please put a spoiler warning in your thread's title.

You are right about that. It is very annoying for those whom haven't seen it yet. It is a real problem in this regards in that it hasn't aired in the States yet. It will be a bigger problem when they come online after they have viewed the first episode.
Maybe Xenu could put up a special section for the American viewers in which it is forbidden to post spoilers about episodes already viewed by others like myself. If they start posting in this same section spoilers will inevitably be read. (I wouldn't post any spoilers btw)

Got to add my 2 cent worth (and that can be either American or European cent).
Please folks if you are adding a post that contains spoilers (i.e. information that was in the series and not the mini) to a thread that has only so far contained info from the mini, please start it with:
*******SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN THIS POST******
(or something similar) followed by about 5-6 empty lines before your post.
Please do this as a matter of courtesy to fans who as yet have not watched (downloaded) the series.
Thanking you in advance.

using a proboards forum dosnt allow for a modification that is for spoilers, which normally blacks out the spoiling text, phpBB have a mod for that but the only way of doing it on here is to make the text as small as possible so its hard to read

if you are adding a post that contains spoilers... I agree with Matt, but have a minor modification to suggest. Let's remember that new episodes will be broadcasting on a different cycle in the US and the UK. For example, the US will be seeing episode 103 right about the same time that the UK is seeing episode 111. A generic spoiler warning really doesn't help that much, because you won't know what episode is being spoiled unless you keep reading. I propose that people put the episode name or number in the spoiler warning. Saying "SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 10" is a whole lot more useful than just saying "SPOILERS". That way, each viewer can decide for themselves whether a given thread will burn them, based on which episodes they have seen. Then the UK and US audiences can both participate in the discussions without anybody getting spoiled unwillingly. Comments?

Excellent ideas! Thank you, Daliden, for starting this thread, too. It would be most helpful to start threads with "Contains spoilers for episode (insert ep name here)!" Its short and to the point, serving as an early warning system for those of us who haven't seen regular series episodes yet! It gives each reader the opportunity to decide for themselves if they want to continue further or wait to see the episode for themselves. Thank you and best regards, VPM

I agree with Alan about making it specific, but could we please include an episode name as well as the number? Someone saying 'spoilers for episode 15' or whatever would confuse me (doesn't take much... ;D) since I tend to work on names, not numbers, and I suspect that'd apply to others too.
Kudos to Daliden for raising the issue, though. I'm not overly objectionable to spoilers myself- it's a less malicious form of gossip IMHO- but a lot of people are so it'd be unfair to just bludgeon ahead and discuss a major (or indeed minor) plot revelation without fair warning.

Perhaps there should be another section for discussions that move at the speed of the US showtimes of the episodes. As it is, many of the speculative and episode threads have spanned a time during which several episodes have been seen, and usually contain spoilers for quite a few episodes already seen in the UK. My biggest objection is to the posts in such threads that include information that is *not* from an episode already seen! I understand there are a lot of photos from upcoming episodes in the net, but I emphatically do NOT want to see them discussed anywhere else but in their own threads which are clearly marked as SPOILERS. And preferably with the thread subject spoiler-free as well (meaning that I don't want to see a thread labeled, for example, "What's with the Boomer cylon? *SPOILERS FOR THE MINI-SERIES!*"). At the end of the day, it always comes down to the people who post. One rotten egg can spoil many a dish, or something like that So, everyone play nice, and respect those of us who get hives from the slightest of spoilers!

Why not just create a "Spoiler" or "In-Depth Discussion" or "Plots and Episodes" forum like other sites. Then there's no excuses or complaints. You know exactly what you are getting into and what may be in there. Can add a warning about spoilers in the forum discription.
"The New Series" forum can continue to serve as the main or general discussion forum.
