Hey, is that movie any good? My hubby just bought the DVD, site unseen! I really liked it. You have to have spent some significant period of time in Vegas to get some of it, though. Vegas has a very unique kind of negative aura/energy to it that The Cooler nailed. I took a job offer and worked there for a couple of years. Went to the casinos to eat a lot, but never gambled. I was the exception on that, especially now that so many people are moving there, and the ones that go there are the type to be attracted and victimized by the gambling culture. I had almost every person I knew at some point blow a paycheck at the casinos and come begging for rent money. Everyone has a system to beat Vegas and none of them work. Watching the seniors dumping their Social Security checks into the slots a nickle/dime/quarter at a time is the worst. Just tragic. So you've got this creeping doom underlying everything.

Mustex, who posts here sometimes, hounded him on the Skiffy boards before he was banned, and then followed him around the boards like a puppy dog for quite some time. My whole problem is when someone's arguments are crushed like insects, and everybody knows they've lost, EXCEPT THAT PERSON!

I have to say the first image that came to mind to me was somebody who was very lonely and every night just went home and masterbated until they were raw. I AM NOT LANGUATRON!

If you're speaking loosely, fine. But there is an underculture of professional gamblers in Vegas. Only certain things are beatable (in the long run.)

Is it me or does anyone else just feel really, genuinely, sorry for him? To get so twisted over a tv show An intensely, fantastically, mind blowingly, OH. MY.GOD. tv show - but still... a tv show. How heartbreaking it is to watch a human beings decline into madness right before our very eyes Yeah, my sentiments exactly!! I experienced this frakin' sad excuse for a human being on the Sciffy board a while back! This nutball is extremely disturbed! Look, I understand being passionate about a show or whatever, but he goes way too far, & I've seen a lot of that, for I am a Trekker & I post on the TrekBBS & there are some real headcases on that board & most of them are fans of Star Trek TOS! Lang & others like him are rabid fans of BSG TOS!! I guess when you recreate or reinvent something popular you are bound to piss off or disappoint some fans, but when you make one that is infinitely better than the original, some fans get mental!!! He is sort of a celeb in the BSG fan world, but it sickens me extremely to say this! Lang & his followers (if any) blow! FRAK 'EM! SO SAY WE ALL!

I'm actually the "schizophrenic moderator" over at MortalStorm, friend of th "Moist Boys" (the venerable phrase begun by the infamous "Roaul_Duke" serial cloner), and author of the Languatron Chronicles. Go to Moist Board and give 'em a read. Search especially for the words "Paramount" and "lawsuit". where's the langy lawsuit? Oh God, which one? There was a piece from the rumor-mill that he seized upon last year, to wit - Paramount lawyers were going to shut down the "Star Trek" ripoff. The anti-Langs had a field day with it. The miniseries still aired, and the Seven of Nine clone continues to whisper sweet nothings into Julian Baltar's Ear.

I'm actually the "schizophrenic moderator" over at MortalStorm Why did you close the Lang section of the board to certain members only?

Neat moniker, but I think you have me mistaken with someone else! VPM Oh. I didn't think she'd be here. Basically she's an obsessive freak who posts over at Battlestar Pacifica with a feeling of "Mustex, being a TNS fan, is too inferior to directly respond to. Instead I'll simply make vague accusations that he's 'attacking' us, and hope my superior, TOS based, intellect will rub off on him." She probably acts the same way towards other TNS fans, but I can't be sure, because there aren't any over there. Her board is even worse. She claims it's devoted to TOS, and hence even MENTIONING TNS in a non-aggressive manner is bannable, but yet for some reason she let's people discuss every OTHER franchise in existance from LOTR to Star Wars.

Hey, Mustex. I had to go check out the Battlestar Pacifica site you mentioned, and the impression I got is...what a bunch of babies! Did you see the post where they announced that they banned you?
It appears to me to be one of those sites that claims to welcome open debate, but what they really want is a lovefest. It tends to result in a stagnant, uninteresting board. No loss for you.

Yeah I just love those boards: All TNS fans are welcome however, do not write anything inflamortory against TOS and when someone writes an inflamortory remark about TNS do not defend it because that would be considered inflamortory against TOS…whatever, they can have the 1970's they were not that great anyway.

If you're speaking loosely, fine. But there is an underculture of professional gamblers in Vegas. Only certain things are beatable (in the long run.) Poker doesn't count as that's a game vs. other players, not the house. Cardcounting at a blackjack table was the only system proven to get an edge at a casino game. The casinos look for it. Hard. As far as blackjack cardcounters, anyone who claims they are regularly making money in a Vegas casino cardcounting in Blackjack is a liar. The casinos have the tells down cold on cardcounting. The tables are watched. Anyone caught cardcounting while they are up is tossed out on their head and banned.

Not strictly true on the gambling stuff, but there is no point in your arguing further.
How similar is Languatron to Doug G r a n t? After creating quite a nuisance of himself online, Doug Grant, a former card counter, filed one lawsuit against every Atlantic City casino, several law firms, and every poster to the newsgroup rec.gambling.blackjack (mostly card counters), saying there was a vast international conspiracy to deceive the public and to discredit him. He didn't use the term "stealth marketing," but rather he insisted everyone was a "casino agent." Although he was laughed out of court and the judge threatened him with sanctions, he had his lawyer send letters to AOL and Earthlink, which then gave him the names and addresses of the newsgroup posters (despite no court order), and he then posted that information on the Internet. He then took at least one of the newsgroup participants to court, arguing that the defendant ridiculed him on the Internet, causing millions of dollars in pain, suffering, and on and on. (Doug Grant wound up being charged with the defendant's fees.)

Actually no. My banning means I am incapable of even viewing the board. Someone please post a copy of it, or send it by PM to me (I'd like to see the responses as well).
