Assuming that the schedule is the same as Stargate (which is the working assumption everyone is operating on) the UK will still get the second half of the season before we do. They should get eps 2x11, 2x12.... starting in December, while we have to wait until January. Or rather, those who don't download will have to wait until January. Also, don't count on the schedules to synchronize anytime soon. SFC always splits seasons in two with a big break in the middle. Sky never does that. So it would be impossible for both halves of the season to be synchronized. Downloading is still just a minor annoyance for them--not enough to get them to synchronize the schedules.

I don't believe that'll happen. Or rather, I don't think it'll last for the whole season. SFC always takes a huge mid-season break in the fall to avoid competing with the big broadcast networks. Has Sky ever done something like that before?

Assuming that it's a situation just like Stargate, it means that SFC will air the first 10 episodes in July-September, but then take a huge break and not start showing the last 10 episodes of the season until January. Sky will not start the season until October, but not take any breaks except for Christmas, which means that they'll catch up to and surpass the US schedule in December. So the US gets the first half of the season first, and the UK gets the second half of the season first. Seems fair.

Yes, a world startdate would be good. But I wonder about the practicality of the schedules remaining synchronized for very long. Would SFC and Sky really agree to negotiate any schedule changes between them? If, say, SFC wants to break for a week for Thanksgiving, is Sky going to go along with that? I would guess that each channel is going to design their broadcast schedule based on what makes the most economic sense for them, which means that, even if the seasons start at roughly the same time, they'll get out of whack as soon as one channel decides to take a break from showing new episodes while the other decides to keep going.
Btw, I asked this in another thread but didn't get an answer: Does anyone know what kind of schedule Sky operates on as a rule? Do they tend to show new programming between the fall and spring as most networks in the U.S. do, or are they showing new stuff pretty much throughout the year?

You guys are offering some very cool ideas. My main hope for the season premiere is that things don't get resolved *too* fast. For example, I predict that when Baltar eventually returns to the fleet, he'll play a role in defusing the political crisis that now has Roslin behind bars. But I definitely don't want to see this happen in the season premiere! There are too many dramatic possibilities open with Tigh in command, and the civilian leadership out of the picture. It would be a serious cheat if they don't stretch out the consequences of that over several episodes. Oh, and I guarantee that we'll be seeing some Cylon ground troops on Kobol. If the Caprica storyline is indeed wrapping up, there will no longer be an excuse to show the Cylon toasters every week. So the writers will have to grab onto every excuse they can find to show them.

* "Humanoid Cylons have consciousness transfer capabilities." Humanoid Cylons believe they have consciousness transfer capabilities. Almost. They don't always seem so sure, and I have posted an alternate mechanism that would fool them into thinking this exists. You can't be sure if they can't be sure. In any case, we have never seen a "reincarnated" Cylon with the memories of the dead one. I'll go even farther than you do. I don't know that the humanoid Cylons believe it. All I know is that they've claimed that that's the case when speaking to the Colonials. I have little confidence that they're telling the truth in any of their dealings with the Colonials. I only go by what they say when they're talking amongst each other. (This goes for their religion too. Something they only talk about when they're speaking to one of the Colonials.) Again, how do we know that the humanoid Cylons actually believe this? Do any of them ever say so? Or is it just something that Adama assumed, and Loeben never bothered to correct him?

Shaun will be revealing his ratings info on lvrocks.com this Wednesday night. Hopefully, it will not clash with the one posted at fleets. I am holding off on reporting from my Sci-Fi source until after Shaun's show. KR I missed the show last night. Can you fill me in wrt what was reported about the ratings?

Yeah, I should have added that in those two weeks when SGA beat BSG, it did so only by a margin of 0.1. When BSG most recently beat SGA, it was by 0.2. So really, yes, they're tied....at least for the most recent weeks for which the info is available.

All except for one week, Episode 1.07. The rest have lined up very well. KR OK, cool. I've added the ratings info for the last two episodes (in italics until confirmed by Sci Fi Wire) to my ratings website: www.astro.cornell.edu/~springob/bsgratings.html

Oh, OK. Sorry, I haven't been paying attention in past weeks, but has the source always given you numbers that match what Sci Fi later reports officially?

What's the source on the 2.13 rating?
Also, I believe this week is when the show airs half an hour later than normal due to the 90 minute long SG1 episode, is that correct? If so, I'm afraid the ratings might be affected, as some people might not know about the change and miss the episode.

HoG was very good. But, IMHO, KLG2 could eat HoG for breakfast.
