Just to give you an update, the complete miniseries will air on Sci-Fi (the 4 hour version) two days AFTER the series premieres- on January 16th at 3pm EST. Mark your calendars for this event if you don't have anything better to do on a Sunday afternoon than enjoy Galactica! ;D KR Good. The way I had been reading it they were going out of order. Hotdog didn't die in the episode. As a matter of fact the last scene with strike one, when they were ordered to turn around and re-engage, Hotdog is seen blasting one of the Raiders to bits and pieces. I loved the episode. Great acting and great scenes. Simply great sci fi. Billy Lordshadowz Then who was that first pilot that died?

5/5
Great episode. It resolves alot of buildup. Also Moore wasn't too weak-kneed about killing people. I almost cheered when Hotdog died. It's not that I don't like him, just that I hope this is building up to a more important character dieing.

If they show TOS Raiders or if the run out of ideas? If they show TOS Raiders. Any show on which the ships require manuevering rockets, should take urgonomics into account for designing things.

I agree the chances are slim to none; however, they could show them if they did a flash-back episode featuring a young Lt. Adama during the first Cylon War then we could see them, but I doubt they will do that, unless they run out of ideas. If they do I will hunt Moore down.

I really hope this series does well ratings wise in the US, then a huge wad of the series budget could be spent on a CGI heavy combat episode. Something along the lines, the fleet needs a moral boosting victory over the cylons, in the realms of the Battle of Endor (not the furry teddy or wrinkled prune bits), coinciding with the arrival of the Pegasus. Only if the characters still work within the combat.

Although I'm in the U.S. and don't get to watch this series on t.v. until January, I've read reviews of every episode and know the story. Here's some random musings I have... 1) I think season one will end with the Galactica finding Kobol. However, I think the Cylons will show up and nuke the planet shortly after that. I do believe we will meet one of the leaders of the Cylons, perhaps even the Imperious Leader. (But I'm thinking someone like Lucifer). I think somebody will either get implicated as a new agent or perhaps get captured by the Cylons. (Maybe Starbuck???)...hence a bit of a cliffhanger like Ron Moore said there will be). I wouldn't be surprised if Chief Tyrol is the first person to figure out that Boomer is a Cylon, although both he and Helo are kinda dumb. (Good characters, but not the most intelligent guys). I think Patricia Helfer said that by the end of the season finale we will have an idea about what the Cylons master plan is. That speaks volumes right there. We're going to meet someone really important. So far Number 6 seems to be the most powerful Cylon character-wise, but maybe we'll meet one of her masters. Cool. While I accept that the old-school Cylons exist within TNS, I do not accept old-school raiders. The idea that after creating Cylons the colonies were incapable of creating a direct auto-pilot system that would be superior to a pilot, even a mechanical pilot, in any way is too ludicrous to even consider for TNS. I hope to meet the Pegasus too. Although it might be better if they said "Let's split the fleet, each half having a Battlestar protecting it. We go our seperate ways, and hopefully at least one of us will make it." Good enough. Although maybe it should be a damaged Basestar, and they find out about the damage, and hence where to aim. *sighs* Look, we-are-not-going-to-find-Earth-and-if-we-do-I-will-beat-the-crap-out-of-Moore. Better yet, we meet an alien race with a great deal of diversity, including groups that are both hostile, and friendly. And they better not be humanoid. And they should leave it at one, two tops. We have to deal with Fermi's Paradox. Sounds good. HERE! HERE! HATCH 2008!...oh, you meant on the show.

I hate to repeat myself, but: " I have been giving this some thought and to say it sucks without a basic intellectual argument is a wee bit immature. ;D Very true. I am glad your not going to act like Lang. The way I see it you can do a remake two ways, be true to the work, or be innovative, and Moore went with the latter. Both can work Harrison's version of "Dune" was fairly true to the original, and worked. Coppola's "The Godfather" took everything straight out of the book, but the subplots he choose to delete were so important to the overall impact the movie quickly sank into mediocrity On the other hand Lynch innovated with his "Dune" and it sucked, and Moore innovated with his BSG, and it rocked. He was lying. They're not going to Earth. Does seem kind of annoying. Why not just call her "Sheba", and say Starbuck is Cain's son. This is a way of making the viewer think. And you wouldn't? Zac's death was Adama's fault, so Adama is blamed. This is like when people call Robert Howard a mama's boy because he took care of his mother when she was sick, as she slowly died over several years, and then committed suicide when she finally died. Wouldn't you be depressed? Which the series will provide."

Take a drink everytime Baltar does something either helpful or hurtful to the humans, solely because it helps him.

WARNING! EXTREME DANGER OF ALCOHOL POISONING!
Take a TINY sip every time a particular person (I've decided it might be best not to say his name again) makes some vague, nonsensical reference to how TNS "rips-off" Star Trek. Take another TINY SIP if he claims to have seen the mini, in spite of having posted in 1999 that he had blocked the Sci-fi channel from his TV.

The opening was kind of slow and boring, but after the Tighs got drunk it became hilarious. Also James Callis managed a good performance (although not his best), and the story of the Cylon detector moved forward. The second weakest episode ("Act of Contrition" is still first), but still 4/5.

Great episode. Contrary to what purists keep spewing this was not complete anti-war propaganda, but a true commentary on the war (as well as good sci-fi). Rather than saying the interrogator is wrong, it simply says the interrogated is human. In the end this leads to the conclusion that war is wrong, but is sometimes a neccessary evil, and hence leaves us to judge when that evil is neccessary.
4/5. Would be 5, but for a plothole. Baltar acted like most people didn't know about the Cylon detector, but didn't Laura announce it publically when she cleared Baltar last week?

True. Did you read the proposed history of the colonies posted to the sci-fi board a few months ago? It was amazing. I would buy a book on the history of the colonies. ;D No, I didn't read that.
