As I stated on a Sci-Fi thread, they have some pretty heavy hitters advertising during BSG. Budweiser is one of them. Obviously, they know the particular demographics of the group that watches BSG, namely males ages 25-54. I did some market research and statistical consultation for a ratings firm in Chicago several years back. That a new advertiser like Bud is advertising during BSG is saying some companies want to get on the band wagon & get their products out to the viewers. While there is a correlation between advertising of that product & the actual buying of it, they are still investing bucks in getting their product in the public's face. And that is a good source of revenue for Sci-Fi and ultimately BSG's continuation. So drink up kiddies and may BSG live long & prosper, KR I'm only 18, so I can't drink, and I don't plan to drink until I feel I am mature enough to not become an alcoholic (I'm waiting until about 25, and then may drink in moderation, although I will NEVER smoke).

A contact over at Sci-Fi informed me that the overnights for Episode 1.07 remained flat- indicating that BSG was maintaining its audience. "There is no downward trend. We're delighted with its performance," the contact remarked. ;D KR (insert "Universal Executive" joke)

^-- makes my point. Bab5 was still better than all of DS9 I've seen about 2 minutes of one episode of B5. I have to see more eventually, everyone seems to love it.

Have to disagree only in that I loved Deep Space Nine. Voyager was trite crap and Enterprise had promise but no delivery. DS9 however was the grittiest Trek has ever gotten.. -Shawn And we know who we have to thank for that.

What I'm getting at here is that J. Michael Straczynski was the first man to ever write a full season of a T.V. show. Should Moore do likewise? I say yes, but in a season with less episodes.

If you kept him on a tight leash maybe Kevin J. Anderson could co-write one. I grant you the guy has a reputation for ruining franchises, but he can tell a decent story (see "Saga of the Seven Suns")

Hands down... I vote for Joss Whedon. I would LOVE to see what he could do with this terrific cast. Good one.

O.k., which writer do you most want to see write an episode of TNS. I've recently started on the book "Mind of My Mind," and think Octavia Butler has a good way of writing believable characters that would make her perfect (I also think that Samuel L. Jackson should play Doro if there's a movie, and maybe Laurence Fishbourne can do another body, since their acting is almost indistinguishable).

Will we see them? In the original there were some pretty big names such as Ray Milland, Lloyd Bridges, Patrick Macnee, Lloyd Bochner, ect. To date the only "big" name we have seen is Hatch. IMHO if they had a bigger budget more guest talent could be aquired. Of course in the case of the original they got the guest stars as a way of boosing ratings. In the case of TNS the budget is low enough that guest stars aren't required. I'd still like to see some, but I don't want to see Moore writing scripts just for them. Of course Lang once mocked us for booking a guest star, ignoring the fact that TOS did so far more often. He also claimed that a two-hour premiere was a sign the Sci-fi Channel wanted to "get it over with" quicker, also ignoring the fact that TOS had a THREE-HOUR PREMIERE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ;D I just had to share this, it's so funny.

I am not trying to be a jerk Mustex but the guy finally makes a positive comment on BSG and you jump on him for it. I can understand that in your case it may just be once bitten twice shy, however, if he is watching and enjoying the GCI, then I suspect he is enjoying the story as well, as CGI alone cannot hold anyone’s interests for an hour. That's pretty much what I said. Basically I think he does like it, but won't admit it. Oh, and technically this is the SECOND time he said something positive about TNS. When they first put that scene of Helo running from the Cylon on scifi.com for download KF let the words "decent enough" slip out of his fingers. If he likes the show he does, if not he doesn't. I don't think saying he's guilty about it will help or hurt that progression. While there are certain TOSers who will never come around, primarily ones who would rather eat charcoal that watch TNS even for bash-gathering purposes (i.e. Spider987, Languatron, Viperqueen...), guys like Kingfish can't help themselve.

Mustex your post is Edited I had a comment that was dubbed inappropriate. How should I put this...O.k., you remember that joke Starbuck made during the briefing in BD, about why the pilot was coming in to hot. I was comparing guilt about liking TNS to guilt about doing the thing she accussed him of doing. Is that better?

There are some aspects that have grown on me. The CGI for one. Seeing the Galactica and ragtag fleet is a plus. Some of the ships are from the original as well as some new designs. The space battles aren't bad although some of the fast paced action using what looks like a jerking motion can be bothersome. The new Cylons do appear menacing as shown by the scene when helo is chased by one on Caprica. Do the mechanicals talk like in the original series. I liked the metalic voice sound. HOG looks like an action packed episode. I get the feeling Kingfish is really a TNSer, but won't admit it. Tell me, are you just too guilty to say that you like it?

Personally, I think some of the die-hard TOS fans are tuning in every week as there is nothing else on & they are curious to see what's happening- even if it means they are increasing the ratings for the show! KR To be honest I think some TOSers are fans of TNS, but won't admit it, and act like they hate it even more because of that (sort of like how some gays act homophobic). I actually think Kingfish may be one of these, based on the fact that his comments are usually attacking, but now and then he'll slip in a compliment. xsorbit26.com/users5/languatron/index.php?topic=206.0LANGUATRON STRIKES AGAIN! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
