I think I'm in the minority of people who liked 1.09. I thought it was well directed and as funny as it was (deliberately by the writers and cast), every character was so serious, it was even funnier. It's a welcome break from the constantly tense and depressed atmosphere usually there. It's also technique used in the past, notably well done by Babylon 5. Either way, it is good to see BSG's ratings so consistently good for a cable scifi show. To me the humor felt forced and out of place. I like the Humor in B5; between Ivanova, Londo, G'Kar......and yes Kosh

I think in a lot of peoples eyes 1.09 was a lemon of an episode...Sorry, I can't stand it. I doubt it helped 1.10

I find it hard to believe that even at 6 Gs the gas pedal on a viper weighs that much.

BSG went up in the ratings over the previous week. In the 18-49 age bracket, it was up by 16 percent according to a Sci-Fi source. It was further remarked that BSG is "an unqualified hit." More to come.... KR Great news ! Do you have the actual numbers. Also, would it be possible for you to post the overnights and final ratings for the other eps including the initial airing of the mini. It might be a cool addition to the reviews, or its own section off the main page...something for us who like to watch trends. ;D

Him letting it be known he looks at the board was a HUGE mistake...
He could have answered a few questions weekly without making it look like he got them from the board.
I fear the official board will become a sewer of posts directed to RDM now.

You'll be wanting to keep your right wing comments to yourself here. If you start the political sniping, I'll finish it. I promise you that. Don't even think you are going to threaten people because they have different political views than yourself.

Good catch! I think that they could explain this away by saying that while Galactica was not his home base he was assigned to it for T.A.D. (temporary additional duty). Therefore, while he was onboard the Galactica he was no longer assigned to his old unit but to the Galactica and its Viper squadron. They actually would have replaced his patches because the military wants uniformity, in fact, I think that he would have been required to wear the new patch. Actually TAD orders almost never require you to change your unit patches...unless its long term, more likely just a goof.

From the DVD commentary; it is a soldier from the first Cylon War.

I think that was the general idea ;D Trust me....thats not what they intended. Like I said....I want the character off of the show, never to be heard from again.

Ugh...I'll be one of the voices of decent here...I HATED this episode. I can't stand Ellen and the sooner she is sent to Keep Leoben company the better. I can't stand her, and no, not in the "oh she's bad" way. Her character annoyed the ****out of me every second she was on screen.
As for Baltar being wacko...Adama is a smart man who has dealt with smart people before, he would require Baltar to train some assistants. Military people are all about redundancy.
For the record I voted this ep a 2. I hated it.
I'm glad everyone else enjoyed it.

My guess is they want to get as many episodes out by the end of January as possible. Mini and episodes 1-4. Thatt way they can get a ratings sample to decide to order a second season.

Thanks for all the kind words, Case. Made my night. This little scenario seems to have gotten a favorable response at Colonial Fleets as well. I am near prompted to write up a fanfic of Kara's backstory. And all because of a cool thread that got started here called "Nothing but the rain." Respectfully and with great appreciation, Martok2112
