I think this is one of the most fascinating aspects of TNS, and one that may even pull non-sci-fi viewers into the loop as well. The writing is so good & all these little sub-plots are worthy of their own storyline...the religion angle being one of the most interesting. My theory that I've stated on several threads is that the Cylons met & were influenced by a renegade "god" being during their 40-year absence...one maybe called Lucifer?

Welcome to the board, KDF , There are some similarities to the movie Screamers and the Cylons in BSG. , although the Cylons have been much less hokey than the evolved screamers. I haven't read the story its based on, but the movie got pretty laughable once the robots too on human form; thankfully this hasn't been the case with BSG, the Cylons have been the scariest humanoid robots since Blade Runner. And no, I don't mean you, BR

It was more than just a personal attack, though; it was actually both slanderous and obscene...and that's coming from ME!

Agreed. This is another reason why I wonder if somehow the Cylons made this a design choice, since obviously machines could interface without vocalization if they wanted to. If its a choice, then we know that they will intentionally limit themselves & their abilities in order to 'be' more human. True. This is not only known, but has almost been shoved in our faces....obviously some Cylon freewill (gratuitous Rush reference)subplot is in the works... This whole personality-download thing is really confusing; I almost wonder if it isnt't a kind of Cylon-mythology; something that creator Cylons tell the 'younger' ones to make them not fear death....'cus that would be some seriously formidable technology levels they were operating on otherwise. All in all though, these former 'walking chrome toasters' have turned into the coolest sci-fi villains in ages

re: delusional disorder I don't think we know enough about the case to make a definative diagnosis. Hard to know too much about the subjects real life from their e-life. Maybe so, but that's why we're not doctors....we just play them on the internet
