Is there anybody out there who hasn't seen the new series? i'm in America and have only seen the mini. i read the message from the creators asking people not to download the series, and i'm one of those idiots who feels guilty enough to not download it. i'm pretty miffed about the series not playing simutaneously around the globe because there's a lot of discussions that i've avoided on this board so i don't spoil it for myself.  This thread can be deleted after January 14th, but for now are there any other dorks in the dark like me out there that want to discuss things from the mini?  |

Yup...there's a few of us dorks here in the USA who have not downloaded and are impatiently waiting for January. I saw the mini, and I really liked it. I have been intentionally avoiding any threads that discuss the new series because I want to experience it for myself.
Not too much longer to wait. I need to see the mini again before I watch the series, but I guess that's not going to be a problem since NBC is going to air it, and Scifi will probably show it again before the series debuts.

I need to see the mini again before I watch the series, but I guess that's not going to be a problem since NBC is going to air it, and Scifi will probably show it again before the series debuts. Supposedly the NBC version will be three hours instead of four. What do you guys think they will cut? Seems like it would be hard to remove a full hour of material without damaging it pretty badly. If I could cut one thing from the mini, it would be the portions of the opening scene in which Six encounters the Liason Officer on Armistice Station. That scene makes no sense. Why would the Cylons send three of their agents onto a station they were about to blow up? What did they gain? If I could rewrite that scene, it would still have the docking sequence, the word overlays (to give the backstory), and the scenes of the Liason Officer sitting at his desk looking over the papers. So far, so good. However then instead of Six arriving, they should have just had some piece of equipment sound an alert tone, the Liason Officer looks at it and does a double-take, like he can't believe what he's seeing on the screen. Then switch to an external shot with the base ship arriving and launching a missile. The Liason Officer overcomes his shock and grabs for his communication equipment. He takes the microphone, punches a button or two, and begins shouting a warning about the attack... just as the communication screen flashes up a "SYSTEM FAILURE" message. He stares at it in horror, then the camera flashes back to the external view as the missile hits the station and blows it into smithereens. Simple, clean, and makes more sense! "Who cares whether you think you're alive? Buhbye!" |

Maybe it needs to be shown they are willing to give up there own existence, rather like suicide bombers.

This scene reminded me of Monty Python's Life of Brian, when he's nailed to the cross and the "suicide squad" comes marching up. On the command, they all stab themselves and collapse, leaving everyone totally perplexed as to WHY. If the Cylons were going to send three suicide agents onto the station, then there should have been something there for them to accomplish besides just smoochies with an old man. |

Don't worry. You're not the only one avoiding the forums like a plague. I am waiting till January to watch it in the entirety without going and downloading illegal copies off the internet. But I do want to get TIVO so I don't have to sit through the stupid commercials that Sci-Fi channel has. God I can't stand Sciffy commercials. |

It probably will be damaged pretty badly--you know how network tv likes to cut stuff up  . i'm guessing: 1) In the beginning, Six will walk in, ask "Are you alive?..." The tongue-down scenes will be cut and they will go straight to "It has begun..." 2) Boomer and Tyrol's tongue-down scene will be cut. 3) Baltar and Six's sex scene will be cut, along with the scene where Inner-Six is feeling him up. 4) When Six kills the baby will be cut. 5) Along with a few other assorted scenes that NBC will feel are "unimportant", but without them, most of the first-time audience will be confused. i also think they'll probably speed up most of the movie (ever-so-slightly) like the networks do some time. It's a shame, really, but during these post-Superbowl Nipplegate times, the networks probably won't take any chances with anything that might appear even remotely risque or offensive. |

Re: the question of the necessity of having Six and the other 2 agents show up to the remote space station...I agree with you that it didn't seem to gain the Cylons anything by blowing up their own "guys" but what a great way to introduce Six and to show in such a short segment how the cylons have changed in the "past 40 years" (if I remember it right) and to show the viewers how much was changed from old series to new series (for those who have had the opportunity to see both.) I mean, dig it, Cylons who look like humans and you can't tell the difference; and sleeper agents, too?! What a mind scrambler! Also, like CylonMurderer, I couldn't help myself looking at the pics posted from the 1st 3 episodes. I, too, have tried to stay away from the obvious spoiler threads, although I have been burned once or twice! I will still watch the series religiously when it comes out in January. I saw that NBC was picking up the mini to run before the regular series starts on Scifi, but I didn't know that Scifi was going to re-run it too before the series starts on the 14th. I'd love to see the series again in its entirety (and not the swiss cheese NBC is going to have to show it as just to get it down to 3 hours. Although on a side note, if it helps build viewership for the new series, thus strengthening its chance at a 2nd season, its better than nothing.) If anyone has info on Scifi re-running the series (date & time, that is) please advise. Thanks! PS. BladeRunner - love the tumbleweed smiley! That's so awesome! |

 I'm one of those goofy sorts who will tape a soccer game on TV 'cause I can't be home to watch it, then will avoid the sports segments on the radio on the way home so I won't get spoiled! However, I can run hot or cold on that, too. We're so close to the Jan 14th launch in the states, I'm finding that I can't help myself either (as far as looking at the pictures goes.) The pictures are really great, too. Its just stupid, especially with the advent of the internet, to have separate launch dates of the series. Kind of like when you're reading a really great book and someone else comes up to you and says, "Did you get to the part where they kill the main character yet?" VPM
